HEALTH CARE

WE DON’T WANT HEALTH ISSUES TO HOLD PEOPLE BACK.

Health issues are both a cause and a result of being homeless.

FACTS

– Homeless people are three to six times more likely to become ill than those who are housed.

– Treating a patient in a free clinic costs about $68. The same treatment in a hospital ER is around $1,600

One of the first things we offer those seeking our help is a complete medical screening in our Homeless Health Clinic. The clinic is staffed by an RN and volunteer physicians. If any medical issues appear during the screening, our on-site volunteer physician will refer clients to our community partners and referral networks.

By treating people at One80 Place, we can ensure better care for the homeless people we serve, especially those with chronic illnesses. Our clinic also reduces the strain on local emergency rooms by providing homeless individuals with a safe alternative to the emergency room..

How much more likely are you to become sick when you’re homeless? Three to six times.
