WOMEN & FAMILIES

FAMILY COMES FIRST, EVEN WHEN YOU’RE HOMELESS.

One80 Place has a shelter dedicated to women and children in downtown Charleston. The Family Center has a kitchen, dining room and a playground for the children.

How homelessness impacts children.
  • Children without a home are sick four times more often than other children
  • Homeless children have three times the rate of emotional and behavioral problems such as anxiety, depression and withdrawal
  • They are four times more likely than housed children to have developmental delays

In 2015, One80 Place sheltered 124 children.

One 80 Place’s Family Center houses families and single women in a 50 bed facility directly adjacent to our homeless services center where guests can participate in programs that promote self-sufficiency.  Single women, single moms or dads and intact families call our Family Center home while they work on their individual housing plan to end their homelessness. Our Family Center also has beds designated for female Veterans and their children.
