Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, January 20, 2020, was a day of service for the members of Gamma XI Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In servicing the community, the chapter provided gifts to the residents of One80 Place as an effort to assist with the fight against homelessness.
Mrs. Katherine Whitaker, Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy Chairman and Mrs. Darien Horton, MLK Day of Service Committee Chairman organized this service project and were accompanied by other members as they visited One80 Place.
Five residents received a “Move-In” Kit as they transition from living at One80 Place to moving into their very own residences. The “Move-In” Kit is a starter kit for these residents, and each kit includes essential items for the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, and living room, which will aid in making their new home comfortable.
