The solution to homelessness is a home. That’s why one of the first stops for our clients after arriving at the shelter is to work with a case manager on a housing plan. Riley, a One80 Place case manager, does just that.

Her role is to help clients come up with a plan to end their homelessness and find permanent housing. “My workdays are always exciting, and every day presents novel challenges,” says Riley. “What remains consistent is that my clients and I are always working together on a path to permanent housing, and it’s my job to help them navigate that path.” Riley works with each client’s strengths in order to help them break down their unique barriers to housing. Riley’s favorite part of her job is not only witnessing clients move into a new home, but also the small goals that they achieve along the way. The most difficult part of her job is finding affordable housing in Charleston’s rental market. When asked why she loves One80 Place, Riley said, “We are a solution-focused organization. We are committed to our mission to end homelessness, so we are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the community we serve.”
