Schools Come Together for One80 Place

Charleston, SC | February 1, 2017 — Charleston schools are showing their support for One80 Place and showing that kids care!

Throughout the month of February, a number of local schools are coming together to support One80 Place. For years, One80 Place has provided opportunities for volunteers to help through its Community Kitchen. While these efforts continue to serve a vital function for the organization, the age restriction for kitchen service has overlooked an important part of our community: youth!

Thanks to the cooperation of administrators, parents, and students at Ashley Hall, Charleston Day School, Fort Dorchester High School, Mason Preparatory School, and Porter Gaud School, students will have a chance to make an impact on homelessness locally.  Among the projects this month are fundraisers (non-uniform days, Valentine’s rose sales), hygiene kit drives, move-in kit drives, and Valentine’s Day cards.

“We feel that ending homelessness in our community requires everyone’s support, no matter how big or small the gesture or how young the person,” said Stacey Denaux, CEO of One80 Place. “Raising awareness among these future leaders will help shape how we continue to end and prevent homelessness.”
