One80 Place received grant award from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund.
One80 Place one of 42 organizations to receive a grant from the fund, and one of nine organizations to receive the highest award amount ($5 million). Without your support, this grant would not have happened. Your donations change lives, and, in turn, others (like Jeff Bezos) recognize the impact you have made and have invested in our work.
This grant will be used to enhance our work through three major investments:
Invest a portion of the grant in the new family shelter at 573 Meeting Street. This will help to further drive down the amount of financing the project takes on, which will, in time, amount to a greater maintenance reserve.
Launch educational support services for school-aged children--this will likely be implemented after the new family shelter is up and running. With the knowledge that kids who are homeless are less likely to be at grade level with their peers, dedicated staff is needed to keep school-aged children, in our programs, on track.
Invest in diversion and non-shelter re-housing. While we don't know what this looks like yet, this grant can help us figure out how to better provide our services to those families not in our shelter.
